Origin of the festival Rakhi

According to the Hindu mythology, in the Mahabharata, Lord Krishna had hurt his finger when he had sent his Sudarshan Chakra from his finger to behead Shishupala. Draupadi, wife of the Pandavas then bandaged his finger with a piece of cloth from her saree. Lord Krishna and Draupadi formed a bond of brother and sister and he promised to protect her from all odds.

Since then, we celebrate this festival as a symbol of the love and bond of brothers and sisters, when sisters tie Rakhi on the wrist of their brothers and every brother promise to take care of her for his entire life.

When we celebrate Raksha Bandhan?

According to the Hindu calendar, we celebrate Raksha Bandhan on the full moon day in the month of Shravan (August) and this year it is on 22nd August 2021. New clothes, Sweets, Rakhi, and love are all we found everywhere. This is the most beautiful festival of brothers and sisters, which is my favorite too. With uncountable memories, we are all set to celebrate this festival with full enthusiasm.
