“A sibling is your only enemy you can’t live without.”
Well yes, I too fight with my sisters and at the same time can’t even think living without them. Our bollywood industry plays an important role in our life and I find few movies very close to my heart because of the way they have shown the bonding of siblings….
Bringing my top 10 favorite on reel sibling for you all.
If I start thinking first name comes in my mind whose son I still sing….
Hare rama hare krishna: There is nothing more important than his sisters in Dev Anand’s life in 1971 film ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna’. Even though they are separated as kids, Dev Anand manages to find his sister and sang my fav song.
Deewar: 1975 starring Shashi kapoor & Amitabh bachaan which established Bachchan as the “angry young man” of Bollywood. Deewar is that wall between the two brothers, drawn apart by fate and circumstance in a time of socio-political turmoil.
Hum saath saath hai: Best film showcasing love for siblings and family. I can watch this 100 times without getting bore. Not even hard times could affect the bond these siblings share in ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’.
Iqbal : Movie which showed a younger sibling encourages the elder one to combat challenges and emerge as a winner. It was Shweta Prasad who helps Shreyas Talpade realize his dreams.
My Brother Nikhil: “My Brother..Nikhil” revolves around sexuality and HIV and presents the topics with a powerful sibling relationship. Sanjay Suri is abandoned by his family, community, and friends when he comes out to them about being gay and HIV positive. It is the love of his sister, Juhi Chawla that keeps him together.
Fiza: In ‘Fiza’, it is Karishma Kapoor who tries her best to shield her brother Hrithik Roshan from every problem. She not only shoulders the responsibility of a mature and secured sister.
Sarbjit: The most epic of sibling love, a true story of an Indian woman trying to release her brother from jail when he mistakenly crosses the border to Pakistan. Tragic, powerful, and filled with love, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Randeep Hooda teaches us how ideal siblings should be—the story of Sarabjit brings tears in our eyes and love in our hearts for we all should pray to have a loving sibling like this.
Bhaag Milkha Bhaag: is the story of real-life athlete Milkha Singh (played by Farhan Akhtar). Even though the film was focused on Singh’s career one could not overlook the influence his sister had on his life. Isri Kaur, played by Divya Dutta.
Josh: Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s best chemistry were as twins in the film “Josh.” The duo plays orphans, Max and Shirley. Twins who love each other dearly.
Dil Dhakane Do: Bold, strong and independent Ayesha Mehra is played by Priyanka Chopra and her fun-loving, carefree younger brother Kabir Mehra played by Ranveer Singh. The two have played opposite each other before but their sibling chemistry was simply perfect! Ayesha and Kabir have a very realistic relationship.

I can’t agree more with your list. I love the siblings bonding in Majboor between AB and Farida Jalal, Anil Kapoor-Jackie in Ram-Lakhan, Sanjay Dutt-Kumar Gaurav in Naam but also Kumar Gaurav-Smita Patil in Aaj. There are many more but can’t think right now. There are movies about sibling bondings that touches the heart.
Yes majboor is great movie I missed ?
Loved all your picks… Hare Rama Hare Krishna will be my all time favorite. I remember how emotional I was when I first saw it. Next fav is Dil Dadhakne do – love how the truth of modern family is depicted.
I still sing that song “phoolon ka taaro ka…” just love it !!
Some great on-screen siblings here, and a couple of movies that I have watched, but wanted to! Enjoyed this strol through Bollywood. 🙂
Siblings cheer up our lives. Unique post!
Many more can be added to this list. However your list is undoubtedly fabulous. Being a Bollywood lover, I have watched all these movies and I endorse your selection with my own liking for them. Great job done by you. Compliments.
