How do I ensure that my child is growing right mentally and physically

How do I ensure that my child is growing right mentally and physically

Being a mother is not just about giving birth to a child. A big part of it is about taking care of their growth all through the years. Becoming a growth tracker for your child to ensure that they grow right is a huge responsibility of every mother, but bringing about holistic growth in the child is where the catch lies. It is important to take care of their physical growth, mental wellness, and emotional wellbeing at the same time.

Developing cognitive skills

I remember when I first became a mom, I was overwhelmed by everything that I needed to do to ensure my child was growing right. But reading up, talking to other mothers and listening to my doctor really helped to devise activities for them like puzzles, pointing out different shapes and colors, helping them with their homework, reading books with them, taking an active interest in what they were learning in school to build those skills.

My one absolute favorite activity to do with my kid is to talk to her every day about her day as I tell her about mine. This has not only helped us build a strong mother-daughter bond but it has also helped her with her emotional wellbeing.

Encouraging playtime

The screen, though an attractive solution, is not always the right solution. Thankfully, my daughter loves to play with her friends and spends at least an hour, running, jumping, skipping with them.

I also enrolled her in dancing and swimming classes to ensure her playtime doesn’t diminish but she finds activities she enjoys.

Complete and balanced nutrition

Our body runs on the nutrition we provide it. It is what protects us from health risks while promoting overall health. It is crucial as a mother, for you to understand the importance of tracking nutrition which affects your child’s growth. Did you know that fussy eating can lead to growth concerns like being underweight, feeling lethargic all the time, not being able to play well and inability to concentrate?[1]

Every nutrient that we provide to our body affects it in a different way. A growth-friendly diet includes vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that nourish the brain and body and aid its functioning.

But what do you do if you have a fussy eater at home? They may not be getting the essential vitamins and minerals they need to grow right. My daughter was one of those fussy eaters not so long ago. I took things into hand after talking to my pediatrician.

I found it is important the whole family eats together at meal times. Your child and you should be eating the same food. When your child sees you eating vegetables and fruit, they tend to follow your lead and learn to eat them too.

It is a slow process to get your child to eat properly. For me, this is where PediaSure came in. It is a Pediatrician Prescribed No. 1 nutrition drink used by more than 1 million people to ensure complete, balanced nutrition for their children. By giving my child PediaSure, I had peace of mind, when she wasn’t eating right and I was concerned about her growth.

The journey of motherhood has been a rollercoaster ride for me and has taught me how important it is to have the right knowledge about the requirements of your kids. Nurturing your child in a wholesome way is the way to build up a strong individual and a good human being.

Tell me in the comments below how you ensure you provide your child with a nurturing environment!

I am not a parent yet, but I feel that these things will be very important for me when the time comes.

  5. As a preschool teacher, I agree with the tips wholeheartedly. But, I don’t want moms to forget that let your child naturally grow. I have a lot of moms worried that their child isn’t good enough because they can’t make full sentences or pass a test by age 4. Let them be kids.

  6. I think that it is very important to make sure that your child grows up in a healthy environment and that he does not struggle with mental illnesses. This is why it is important to talk to him every day and don’t let him hide anything that is bothering him.

  7. My oldest son has always been smaller and takes medication for adhd so also doesn’t feel hungry often when he should. We have also found that pedisure helps supplement where he may not be getting enough on his own.

  10. It tough raising a child, most parents wants to give everything so their kids would grow strong and healthy (both mentally and physically). I’m not a mom yet but I’m a pediatric nurse, balanced nutrition should be priority – that’s going to be a challenge specially if the child is already a toddler because they tend to be picky with food.

  11. My grandson is on PediaSure too. He gets all the nutrition he needs and so much more. I do try to encourage him to do more outdoors play but at this time of year when it rains a lot, we make do with indoor activities and lots of arts and crafts.

  12. This is really an essential article for everyone especially for new parents. I don’t have a child yet or in the coming 9 months, but I find this post very relevant, who knows what happens next year. 🙂

  13. Great information, I agree that having a balanced diet and good nutrition is highly important for helping children grow properly.
