B ipasha Basu born in Delhi to a Bengali family of  Hirak, a civil engineer, and her mother, Mamta, is a homemaker on  7 January 1979 and raised up in Kolkata. She has one elder sister, Bidisha, and one younger sister, Vijayeta.

Bips won the Godrej Cinthol Supermodel contest in 1996 and later pursued a successful career as a fashion model. She started her Bollywood career with a negative role in Ajnabee starring Akshay Kumar, Booby Deol, and Kareena Kapoor and won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. Her first lead role was a horror movie Raaz which was a big hit in 2002. She dared to take up challenging roles in her startup career and from then this Bengali beauty is the love of million of her fans.

She remarked once “As a child, I was a tomboy and I was pampered a lot, due to which I became very naughty. I used to keep a stick in my hand and straighten out all the colony boys if they acted smart. I used to be very short as a child and I was the monitor in school.
