G enelia D’souza born in Mumbai into a Mangalorean Catholic family, on  5 August 1987 is known the face of South Indian Cinema. Fewer people know that she liked sports and was a state level athlete, sprinter, and a national level football player. 

She got her first modeling assignment at age of 15 and after her Parker Pen commercial with Bollywood shahanshah Amitabh Bachchan who himself appreciated her mentioning  “she was good, and her expressions were spontaneous”. After which she was the face of  Fair and Lovely and 2003 Cricket World Cup advertisement with cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth.

Her Bollywood debut Tujhe Meri Kasam in 2003, where she was noticed by critics as one of the natural performers. It was a box office hit but Genelia moved to Tamil movies. She has given many box office hits Telugu box office her second Bollywood movie Masti was again proclaimed her as one of the finest actresses and in 2008 she was admired for her freshness and sweetness with her breakthrough performance of the role of Aditi Mahant in the blockbuster Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na, which was an economic success across India and overseas.

She tied a knot on 3 February 2012, with her love life Ritesh Deshmukh, whom she was dating since they starred together in their debut film Tujhe Meri Kasam in 2003.
